We left our ~400-hp coach bus for a 2-hp Amish buggy "bus." With 55 of us coming off the coach bus we needed several buggies (which hold 14-16 people counting the front seat). Our buggy bus tour was about 30 minutes of country scenery while our Amish driver and guide Mose told us about the area and answered our questions. Our horses Prince & Zeke did a great job although I felt so bad for them pulling us up the hills.

I never knew horses had a reverse gear. But they very effectively backed up the buggies to leave the loading area.

Both cars and buggies exist together on the roads. Cars are allowed to cross the double-yellow lines to pass a buggy (when safe to do so).

Of course there's a disadvantage to sitting at the back of the bus; you get the full view (and smell) of fresh horse droppings.

Okay, now for some of the nicer scenery during our ride.

We just came through this covered wooden bridge. The horses clopping was much louder on the wood planks and with the echo inside the bridge.

Personal buggies come in convertibles for the nice weather.
